Colorado’s Gun Law Push: “Control, Not Safety,” Says Colion Noir
In a recent segment of The Ingraham Angle on Fox News, Laura Ingraham and Second Amendment advocate Colion Noir discussed Colorado’s sweeping new firearms restrictions. They called the legislation a direct assault on constitutional rights, all under the guise of public safety.
Starting in 2026, Colorado residents will face a series of new requirements to purchase semi-automatic firearms with detachable magazines. These include a lengthy safety course, two background checks, and a permit from the local sheriff’s office.
Laura described the legislation as “radically anti-Second Amendment.” The law affects even popular handguns like the Glock 9mm. Noir responded bluntly: “This bill basically proves that the government of Colorado thinks that people are stupid. All the major mass shootings in Colorado—the shooters passed background checks. So how sincere can you truly be if your solution is more of the same?”
A Law That Punishes the Law-Abiding
Noir argued that these restrictions will hit working-class Americans the hardest. “A 12-hour safety course? Most people don’t have the time or money for that,” he said. “These are the very people trying to legally protect themselves.”
Laura pointed out a clear double standard. Democrats often oppose voter ID laws, claiming that the cost burdens low-income citizens. Yet they seem perfectly fine with requiring people to spend time and money just to purchase a firearm. “It’s not about safety,” Noir argued. “It’s about control. A state database of gun owners isn’t for public good—it’s a roadmap for criminals or government confiscation.”
The conversation also touched on a recent Supreme Court decision. The Court declined to hear a challenge to New York’s ban on carrying concealed firearms in “sensitive locations.” That term now includes churches, entertainment venues, healthcare facilities, and more. Noir noted, “Ironically, the one constitutional right that gives power to the people—the Second Amendment—is the one they treat like a privilege.”
He cited new research showing that armed, law-abiding citizens are often more effective than police officers at stopping active shooters. Nevertheless, states like California continue expanding the list of “sensitive places.” Now, it includes parks, restaurants, casinos, and even amusement parks. Noir warned that lawful gun owners could unknowingly walk into one of these places and suddenly face criminal charges. “These laws aren’t about stopping criminals. They’re about making criminals out of law-abiding citizens,” he said.
Laura closed the segment with a powerful reminder. “I remember that church shooting in Texas. A law-abiding citizen stopped the gunman and saved lives. That’s what the Second Amendment protects.”
