Matt Whitaker: Sanctuary Cities Are Failing to Protect Americans from Gangs

In a recent segment of The Ingraham Angle, former Acting Attorney General Matt Whitaker joined the discussion on Donald Trump’s newly proposed plan to tackle violent gang activity in U.S. cities, specifically targeting criminal networks brought in by illegal immigration. Trump’s “Operation Aurora,” which he announced during a visit to Aurora, Colorado, aims to dismantle transnational gangs by invoking the Alien Enemies Act of 1798.
Whitaker, reflecting on his time under Trump’s administration, explained the resurgence of these violent groups under the current administration. “President Trump said dismantle these criminal, transnational organizations, and we set about doing that,” he said, emphasizing that illegal immigration has exacerbated the problem. According to Whitaker, sanctuary cities like Aurora have hindered efforts to remove dangerous criminals. “Places like Colorado don’t cooperate with ICE to get people that are already convicted of crimes and in jail out of our country. They allow them to go back into communities to continue to menace.”

Highlighting the ineffectiveness of sanctuary policies, Whitaker described how convicted criminals are being released back into U.S. communities instead of being deported. “They’re just letting them walk out the back door, already convicted or having served their time. Instead of leaving the country, they’re staying to commit more crimes,” he pointed out. Whitaker stressed the importance of using all available tools, including the Alien Enemies Act, to target criminal networks while calling the current policy “insane.”
As Trump’s plan moves forward, it presents a stark contrast to the Biden administration’s approach to immigration and crime. Whitaker’s insights provided a clear argument for a tougher stance on illegal immigration and gang violence, with Trump’s Operation Aurora positioned as a potential solution to these ongoing issues.
