Rep. Elissa Slotkin has expressed concern over Vice President Kamala Harris’s standing in the critical battleground state of Michigan, warning that her polling numbers are “underwater,” according to Axios. Slotkin, who is running for the state’s open Senate seat, raised the issue during a discussion with donors last week, highlighting the significance of Michigan in the upcoming election.

“I’m not feeling my best right now about where we are on Kamala Harris in a place like Michigan,” Slotkin said, signaling potential challenges for the Biden-Harris campaign in securing the state, which is seen as one of the vice president’s key paths to victory over Donald Trump.

With just over a month until Election Day, Michigan remains a critical focus for both parties, as Harris and Trump vie for support in a state that has been a deciding factor in past presidential elections. The concern comes at a time when the devastation left by Hurricane Helene has also shifted campaign priorities, with Trump planning a visit to Valdosta, Georgia, while Harris cut a trip to Las Vegas short to attend briefings in Washington, D.C.

Slotkin’s remarks reflect growing anxiety within the Democratic Party as the race in Michigan remains tight, with both sides aware of the state’s potential to swing the election.
