Dr. Siegel: Lockdowns Just Destroy the Economy, They Don’t Work
California reached an alarming milestone this past week, becoming the first state to surpass two million coronavirus cases, despite the state having implemented “Soviet-style” lockdown measures, yet the number of Covid-19 cases continues to climb.
“70 percent of the Covid-19 spreads within houses. Lockdowns just destroy the economy. They don’t necessarily work,” said Dr. Marc Siegel, a Fox News medical contributor and NY University professor of medicine on Saturday.
“Lockdowns are very questionable, especially severe lockdowns,” explained Dr. Siegel. “In fact, they may have the opposite effect of what you want because you in Los Angeles, which is going to be in the 60s today, outdoor restaurants are closed, which were not ever shown to be a source of Covid-19 spread. But what has been spreading covid in L.A. County specifically it’s happening because of all the parties that are going on, because people are gathering, because people aren’t taking public health precautions.”
Dr. Siegel explained that “with all these lockdowns it may actually cause them to gather more.”
“You cannot contact trace when so many people are getting it. In other words, if it’s spreading, by the time people are figuring out that they have it, they’ve already spread it to their neighbor or someone in their family. 70 percent of the Covid-19 spreads within houses. And that’s the problem. Lockdowns just destroy the economy. They don’t necessarily work.”
President Trump also pushed back on Democrat-run states “that are absolutely ruining the lives of so many people.”
“Cases in California have risen despite the lockdown, yet Florida & others are open & doing well. Common sense please!” said the President in a tweet.
