DeSantis Speaks Out Against Marijuana and Abortion Amendments in Florida

In a segment of The Ingraham Angle, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis voiced his opposition to Amendments Three and Four on the November 5th ballot. These amendments aim to legalize recreational marijuana and enshrine abortion rights in the state constitution.

Amendment Three, which seeks to legalize recreational marijuana, is backed by a single cannabis company. DeSantis warned, “They’re not doing that because they care about the best interests of Florida. They’re doing it because they want to make profits.” The amendment, he noted, would create a “cartel” in Florida’s constitution.

DeSantis pointed to issues seen in states like Colorado, where marijuana use in public is widespread. He expressed concern that Florida’s proposed amendment would lead to even worse outcomes.

In addition to public health concerns, the Governor highlighted the broader societal impact of marijuana legalization. “This is not just about tax revenue or personal choice,” DeSantis said. “The negative mental health effects, particularly on young people, are undeniable. We have to protect our communities from the same mistakes made in other states.”

Turning his focus to Amendment Four, DeSantis described the abortion measure as “radical.” He argued that it not only removes parental consent for minors but also opens the door for non-physicians to perform abortions. “This is dangerous and unprecedented,” DeSantis stated, emphasizing the risks such a measure would bring to Florida.

DeSantis urged voters to reject both amendments, stating that neither should be enshrined in Florida’s constitution. “Even if you support these ideas, this is not the way to move forward,” he concluded.
