‘Do You Hear Yourself?’ JD Vance Dismantles ABC’s Fact-Check on Trump’s Aurora Claims

In a fiery appearance on ABC This Week, Ohio Senator JD Vance sharply rebuked host Martha Raddatz for challenging former President Donald Trump’s claims about Venezuelan gangs in Aurora, Colorado. The tense exchange began when Raddatz cited the Republican mayor of Aurora, who called Trump’s remarks about the city being “invaded and conquered” by gangs “grossly exaggerated.” Vance, however, was quick to turn the tables.
“Well, Martha, you just said the mayor said they were exaggerated,” Vance noted before delivering a powerful retort:
“Do you hear yourself? Only a handful of apartment complexes in America were taken over by Venezuelan gangs, and Donald Trump is the problem and not Kamala Harris’s open border?”
Vance didn’t hold back, pointing out the broader issues plaguing American cities. “Americans are so fed up with what’s going on, and they have every right to be,” he stated. “I worry so much more about that problem than anything else here.”

As Raddatz tried to downplay the incidents by saying they were limited to a few apartment complexes, Vance called out the absurdity of focusing on semantics rather than the underlying crisis. “We’ve got to get American communities in a safe space again,” he stressed, blaming the Biden-Harris administration’s border policies for allowing these issues to escalate.
“When you let people in by the millions, most of whom are unvetted, most of whom you don’t know who they really are, you’re going to have problems like this,” Vance explained. “We knew this stuff would happen… and now we have the consequences, and we’re living with it.”
Vance’s fierce defense of Trump and his scathing critique of the media’s focus on nitpicking Trump’s words while ignoring the crime surge highlighted the senator’s commitment to addressing what he sees as real threats to American safety. “I’m glad [Trump] called this stuff out,” Vance concluded, unapologetically standing by Trump’s comments and holding the Biden administration accountable for the crisis at the border.
