Florida Governor Ron DeSantis was a guest on a segment of The Ingraham Angle on Fox News, where he delivered a sharp critique of leftist governance and outlined his commitment to Florida’s independent investigation into the second assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump. DeSantis emphasized the shifting political landscape in states like New York and California while celebrating the transformation in Florida.

“We had a good run in the governor’s race in New York,” DeSantis noted. “I don’t think it’s going to happen overnight, but I think what [Trump] is doing is laying the groundwork for a resurgence.” He contrasted that with Florida, where Republican dominance has grown significantly. “We used to be a one-point state, and now we have a million more Republicans than Democrats, and we’re reliably red. So, these things can change,” he added.

During the interview, DeSantis took aim at Vice President Kamala Harris, calling her a “vapid San Francisco leftist” and accusing her of policies that have driven people away from states like California and Minnesota to Florida. “We’ve got people that have fled San Francisco to come to Florida to get away from Harris’s type of governance,” he said, pointing to the success of his policies in attracting residents dissatisfied with Democratic leadership.

The conversation also turned to Florida’s independent investigation into the assassination attempt on Trump, a topic where DeSantis expressed frustration with federal authorities. “The answer is no, they’re not being cooperative. Yes, I am concerned,” DeSantis said, referring to the lack of federal collaboration. He highlighted multiple violations of Florida law tied to the incident and Florida’s duty to investigate. “We have a duty to bring the appropriate charges and inform the public about how this happened. But I can tell you right now, we have not gotten a lot of receptive response.”

Despite the challenges, DeSantis confirmed that the investigation would proceed and underscored the importance of understanding the suspect’s actions and motives. “We need to know how did [the suspect] end up in Florida to begin with? What is the pathway this guy has taken to end up in those bushes, trying to assassinate the former president?”

The investigation remains ongoing as Florida state authorities continue to gather information.
