Rubio: Iran Wants Trump Dead, Biden Admin Still Negotiating
In a recent appearance on The Ingraham Angle, Florida Senator Marco Rubio, vice chair of the Senate Intelligence Committee, shared his concerns about threats against former President Donald Trump, particularly from the Iranian regime. Rubio emphasized that Iran has openly expressed its intentions to target Trump and other prominent figures, such as former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, as revenge for the killing of General Qassem Soleimani.
Rubio underscored the seriousness of these threats, stating, “What is known and is a fact… Iran has said it openly. They intend to assassinate Mike Pompeo, and they intend to assassinate Donald Trump.” He added that similar threats have already been acted upon with individuals arrested in the U.S. for plotting attacks.
The Senator highlighted that Iran is unlikely to carry out these operations directly but would instead hire criminal organizations or manipulate individuals to execute these plans. “They’re not going to try to do it by sending some Iranian person to do it here… they’ll spot someone who’s a whack job,” Rubio explained, suggesting that rogue actors could be swayed with financial incentives.

A critical element of Rubio’s remarks was his critique of the Biden administration’s continued negotiations with Iran over a nuclear deal, despite the apparent threats. Rubio questioned the logic behind such diplomatic engagements, stating, “The Biden administration has been negotiating with them over a nuclear deal… even in the midst of all of this.”
Beyond diplomatic critiques, Rubio emphasized the security needs for someone like Trump, who faces both political demonization and active threats from nation-states like Iran. “It has to be security of a presidential candidate that has been demonized by his political opponents… but also who has a nation-state that is actively trying to assassinate him,” he warned, pointing to the heightened profile Trump’s security should maintain.
Rubio’s comments came on the same day that new revelations surfaced regarding Iran allegedly hacking and sending Trump’s information to the Biden campaign. He concluded by reiterating Iran’s animosity toward Trump, stating plainly, “The Iranian regime does not want Donald Trump to be president, and they don’t want him alive.”
