In an interview with Trace Gallagher on Fox News Breaking News this morning, Vivek Ramaswamy addressed the recent attempted assassination of President Donald Trump, expressing both relief and a call for unity in the face of such a grave threat.

Ramaswamy began by acknowledging the tragic loss of an innocent rally-goer who was shot and killed during the incident. “First, our heart goes out to them, and our condolences go out to that family,” he said, highlighting the personal toll of the attack.

Bleeding and Unbowed: Why Americans Love Trump

Reflecting on the narrow escape that President Trump experienced, Ramaswamy expressed a belief in divine intervention. “I personally believe God intervened today, but not just on behalf of President Trump, but on behalf of our country,” he stated. He emphasized the precarious nature of the event, noting, “If you think about this, one centimeter’s distance in the path of a bullet is the future of not only Donald Trump’s life but that of the United States of America.”

Ramaswamy underscored the gravity of the situation, urging people to consider the implications of the near-tragedy. “Imagine what we were talking about today was on a hair’s length difference in the path of a bullet. I think that is frightening,” he said. He called for a moment of reflection and unity, beyond political affiliations. “Do not give your Republican or Democrat voting for Biden, voting for Trump, it does not matter. But this is a moment that if one positive thing comes out of this other white near tragedy, let it be desperate for us about ourselves.”

In praising President Trump’s resilience, Ramaswamy remarked, “At a president’s most vulnerable moment, you saw an unvarnished leader. He stood up, he took the fire, took the hit, and still stood up for the people who he stepped up to represent.”

He also addressed the broader implications for the nation, condemning the violence unequivocally. “The other thing we have to take away is this is unacceptable in the United States of America. This is not who we are. Disagree or not, we settle our differences peacefully through free speech and open debate, not this way.”

Ramaswamy concluded with a hopeful message, urging the country to start healing and avoid further disasters. “If one silver lining comes out of tonight, let it be that, and I hope we begin the process of healing as a country while avoiding what could have been a national disaster that, without exaggeration, could spell the end of the United States as we know it had this gone a different direction.”
