Suspect Arrested in Second Assassination Attempt on Trump

Authorities have identified Ryan Wesley Routh as the suspect in the second assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump, law enforcement sources confirmed to Fox News. The incident occurred at Trump International Golf Club while Trump was playing the fifth hole on Sunday afternoon.

Routh, allegedly armed with an assault rifle, managed to push the muzzle of the weapon through a chainlink fence approximately 300 to 500 yards from Trump. Secret Service agents spotted the threat and opened fire, though Routh initially escaped. He was later apprehended by authorities and found with two backpacks and a GoPro camera. The rifle was recovered from nearby bushes.

Update: The Task Force on the attempted assassination of Donald Trump is monitoring the situation and has requested a briefing with the U.S. Secret Service. In a joint statement, Chairman Mike Kelly (R-PA) and Jason Crow (D-CO) said, “We have requested a briefing with the U.S. Secret Service about what happened and how security responded. We are thankful that the former President was not harmed, but remain deeply concerned about political violence and condemn it in all of its forms.” The FBI is currently investigating the incident.

Fox News Digital has secured a photo of Ryan Wesley Routh moments after his arrest following his alleged attempt to assassinate former President Donald Trump on Sunday.

Martin County Sheriff William Snyder confirmed the accuracy of the photo, taken as Routh was arrested.

Routh was allegedly armed with an AK-47 outside Trump International Golf Club in West Palm Beach, Florida, while Trump was playing the fifth hole.

Governor Ron DeSantis of Florida announced that the state will launch its own investigation into the recent assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump at Trump International Golf Club. In a tweet, DeSantis stated, “The State of Florida will be conducting its own investigation regarding the attempted assassination at Trump International Golf Club. The people deserve the truth about the would-be assassin and how he was able to get within 500 yards of the former president and current GOP nominee.”

The announcement comes as federal authorities and the FBI continue their investigation into the incident. DeSantis’s comments highlight growing concern over security breaches, as this marks the second assassination attempt on Trump in two months.

This state-led investigation aims to provide additional answers regarding the suspect’s proximity to Trump and how the situation unfolded.
