Sen. Hawley: Drafting Women is Insane and Unnecessary

On a recent episode of ‘The Ingraham Angle,” Missouri Senator Josh Hawley shared his views on a proposed bill that would require women to register for the Selective Service. 

“You’ve got the Democrats who want to turn the entire military into a giant trans experiment. They want to force women to accept men in their sports. They want to turn biological women into men. And then you got a whole group of Republicans who just want more people to fight all these wars they want to get us into. And the rest of the country, the normal people are like, leave our daughters alone,” Hawley said.

As a father to a three-year-old daughter, Hawley explained that he would be elated if she were to, one day, volunteer for the armed forces. However, enlisting is quite different than being drafted involuntarily. 

“The idea that she would be drafted against her will is insane. And I bet every father in America feels the same way,” Hawley added.

Ingraham questioned whether the controversial proposition was an attempt by the left to push for equal rights and opportunities for women, but Hawley wasn’t buying it. 

“The people who want to fight for the United States military, who love this country, who are proud to be Americans, they’re getting driven off by all of the woke garbage that’s going on in the U.S. military,” he said.

“So they’re not hitting their recruitment targets. And yeah, if you’re going to fight a whole bunch of wars, which sadly, some Republicans want to do, like all over the world, whether it’s in our interests or not, you’re going to need more people.”

According to Hawley, the country is in desperate need of a reality check, and fighting foreign wars and forcing women to serve isn’t the answer.
