Gloria Romero, a former California State Senate Democratic leader, recently joined ‘The Ingraham Angle’ after changing her party affiliation to Republican.

Romero’s departure marked the second high-profile defection this week, highlighting mounting frustration with the Democratic party’s current direction.

”There are so many more like me who have been disaffected Democrats, and we do not recognize this so-called party of democracy any longer,” Romero said.

“14 million votes were simply thrown out in a primary that was already rigged from the beginning because the elites and the big party donors did not like the outcome. So we’ve just said enough. We’re out of here.”

Romero’s discontent extends to her experiences with Vice President  Kamala Harris. During her tenure as chair of the Public Safety Committee, Romero worked with Harris when she was the Attorney General of California.

”[Harris’] record as attorney general showed that she did nothing to change the schools to provide for school choice in her hometown of Oakland, California,” Romero said.

“Today, 75 percent of both African-American and Latino children are not reading or doing math at basic levels of proficiency. And yet, she went to court with the teachers union, very powerful big donors, to block education reforms that these families had had the courage to go to court and sue over.”

The former Senate leader urged the Trump campaign to engage with California’s disillusioned voters, suggesting that Trump’s 2016 campaign slogan, “What do you have to lose?” resonates now more than ever.

“I would welcome Donald Trump. I’m not alone. There’s some massive change going on in the city of Oakland. They’re trying to recall the mayor. There’s a massive crime problem, a lot of it due to unmitigated migration,” Romero explained.

She added that while California may be a blue state, citizens “are ready to vote for change to make America Great again.”
