BREAKING: Trump to Slash Drug Prices With New Executive Order

President Donald Trump announced Sunday that he will sign a sweeping executive order aimed at slashing the cost of prescription drugs in the United States, calling it one of the most consequential moves of his presidency.
In a statement posted to Truth Social, Trump said Americans have been unfairly forced to pay five to ten times more for the same medications compared to citizens in other countries—even when the drugs are produced in the exact same lab by the same company. He called the pricing system “embarrassing” and said pharmaceutical companies have used research and development as an excuse to gouge American consumers.
“That ends now,” Trump wrote.
The new executive order, set to be signed Monday morning at the White House, will immediately reduce drug prices by 30% to 80%, according to the president. He also unveiled plans to implement a “Most Favored Nation” policy, meaning the U.S. would pay no more for a drug than the lowest price paid by any other developed country.
“For the first time in decades, we’re bringing fairness to America,” Trump said, noting that while prices may rise globally, American families will finally get relief.
The announcement marks a major escalation in Trump’s long-standing campaign to confront the pharmaceutical industry and deliver direct cost savings to American patients. Trump also said the move would save the U.S. trillions of dollars in the long run and lower healthcare costs to levels “never even thought of before.”
The executive order is expected to spark immediate debate in Washington and among industry leaders, but for millions of Americans burdened by skyrocketing prescription costs, the relief could be felt quickly.
