Stephen Miller: Trump’s Fight Against the Unelected Bureaucracy

In a recent segment of The Ingraham Angle, Stephen Miller, Deputy White House Chief of Staff, provided a sharp critique of the power held by unelected bureaucrats within the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID). Miller emphasized that the Trump administration aims to restore democratic accountability by aligning federal agencies with the constitutional authority of the executive branch.

Miller referred to Article II of the U.S. Constitution, known as the vesting clause, which gives executive power solely to the President. “Americans voted for one man, Donald J. Trump. They didn’t vote for a single bureaucrat at USAID,” Miller said. He framed the issue as a battle between the will of the people, represented by Trump, and an unaccountable federal bureaucracy.

Addressing claims that Trump exceeds constitutional limits, Miller argued that the President holds full authority in foreign policy matters. He stated that USAID’s activities often conflict with national interests, especially in areas like border security. There, funds have allegedly supported groups that work against U.S. immigration laws.

Miller assured viewers that the Department of Justice has a strong legal team ready to defend the administration’s reforms in court. He explained that federal agencies have always had discretion over grants and contracts. Under Trump, this discretion will reflect the administration’s goals.

“The plan is to remove anyone at USAID who does not support the policy plans and directives of the President, as the Constitution requires,” Miller stated. He stressed that the goal is not to dismantle government functions but to ensure they reflect the will of American voters.
