Kevin McCarthy: Democrats Setting Up Kamala Harris for Early Collapse

Former Republican House Speaker Kevin McCarthy didn’t hold back during his appearance on “The Ingraham Angle,” where he scrutinized Vice President Kamala Harris and the Democratic Party’s current state of affairs.

Addressing Harris’s early exit from the 2020 presidential race, McCarthy highlighted the significant challenges she faced even during her Senate run. “Nancy Pelosi says Kamala Harris would be worse than Biden,” McCarthy revealed, suggesting internal Democratic skepticism about Harris’s leadership. He proposed that the Democrats might be setting Harris up for an early collapse to clear the path for a different candidate.

Biden Drops Out of 2024 Presidential Race

McCarthy didn’t mince words about the Democrats’ actions, labeling them as hypocritical. “This is the Democrats’ Watergate,” he stated, stressing the need for accountability in their handling of Biden’s presidency. He accused Harris of lying to the American public and defended his previous assertions about Biden’s capabilities, which Harris and Pelosi had contested.

Ingraham pointed out Harris’s recent defense of Biden in a donor call that left many frustrated. McCarthy questioned the Democrats’ strategy and their ability to regain trust. He suggested that the party should consider Harris for the presidency if they truly believed in her but noted their reluctance to give her the spotlight. “They’ve never answered the number one fundamental question: Why have you lied to us for the last three years?” he questioned.

So Much for the ‘Guardians of Democracy’

Critiquing Harris’s performance on key issues like inflation and border security, McCarthy pointed out her San Francisco background and weak stance on crime, making her an unappealing candidate to many voters, including Democrats. “Even Democrats themselves privately told me last week that they were afraid she was worse,” McCarthy disclosed.

McCarthy also addressed the potential legal challenges Harris might face regarding campaign funds. He argued that the money raised for Biden’s campaign should not automatically transfer to Harris, emphasizing the importance of adhering to election laws.

Broadening his critique of the Democratic Party, McCarthy suggested that recent actions against Biden, including forcing him to write a resignation letter, reflected poorly on the party’s respect for the presidency. He argued that Biden deserved the opportunity to address the nation personally about his future.

McCarthy concluded by highlighting former President Obama’s strategic moves within the party. He noted that Obama had been instrumental in pushing Biden out while refraining from immediately endorsing Harris, recognizing the potential pitfalls. “Obama is the only one smart enough to take a deep breath and say, pause for a second,” McCarthy commented, suggesting that the Democrats were rushing their decisions.
