Local Police Officer Identified Gunman Before Firing at Trump Rally, Sheriff Says

Butler County Sheriff Michael T. Slupe revealed that a local police officer saw the gunman just before he fired at a Donald Trump rally on Saturday but was unable to engage him. Sheriff Slupe shared this information during an interview with The Washington Post on Sunday.

Sheriff Slupe explained that the officer was patrolling the area following requests from law enforcement to locate a suspicious individual. “Police responded to try to find the guy, searched the area, but couldn’t find him, so said, ‘Well, let’s try the roof,’” Slupe recounted.

The officer, upon checking the rooftop, spotted the gunman who immediately aimed his weapon at him. “He lets go because he doesn’t want to get killed,” Slupe said. The gunman then began firing, leading to a tragic turn of events.
