CINCINNATI, OH – Vivek Ramaswamy has officially launched his campaign for Ohio governor, entering the GOP primary to succeed term-limited Gov. Mike DeWine (R).

“I’m running for the state where I was born and raised. Honored to announce my candidacy to serve as Governor of Ohio!” Ramaswamy declared in his announcement.

The biotech entrepreneur and former 2024 presidential candidate built his national profile through his long-shot White House bid before becoming a Trump surrogate and briefly leading the so-called Department of Government Efficiency alongside Elon Musk.

Despite never holding elected office, new polling from a pro-Ramaswamy firm suggests he may be the Republican front-runner. He will face Ohio Attorney General Dave Yost (R) in what is expected to be a competitive race.

Ramaswamy made his official announcement at 5:30 p.m. EST in Cincinnati and will deliver a second speech in New Albany, Ohio, at 8:30 p.m. EST.

The launch cements his outsider status in Ohio politics, as he campaigns on a disrupt-the-system platform, echoing his past calls for government reform and conservative leadership.
