Sheila Gunn Reid: Nothing Could Derail the Canadian Conservative Movement
On a recent segment of ‘The Ingraham Angle,’ Sheila Gunn Reid, editor-in-chief of Rebel News, discussed Pierre Poilievre’s rising popularity and the weakening state of Canada’s Liberal Party amid political changes.
According to Gunn Reid, Canadians are eager for a new direction. Poilievre stands out as the ideal leader after Justin Trudeau announced his resignation as Prime Minister on January 6, 2025.
“We’ve been ready for a long time. Trudeau, however, won’t let us send him the message he deserves by voting him out. Instead, he’s resigned and will let someone else take the fall. I can’t see anything stopping the conservative movement in Canada now,” Gunn Reid said.

She added, “Conservative voters and most Canadians are preparing to deliver a crushing blow to the Liberal Party at the next election. I can’t wait for it to happen. It couldn’t happen to a more deserving group of people.”
When asked about Trudeau’s replacement, Gunn Reid noted that most Liberal Party members remain tied to his controversial policies over the past nine years. This association, she argued, leaves them unfit to lead.
“For Trudeau’s damaging policies, even outside options like Mark Carney are flawed. Although labeled an outsider, he has been one of Trudeau’s key advisors since 2020,” Gunn Reid explained.
“Even their so-called outsiders are insiders. Their cabinet ministers are deeply involved in Liberal scandals. They simply don’t have anyone credible to offer,” she added.
Poilievre’s appeal lies in his clear plan for Canada’s future. In a recent speech, he promised to “cap spending, axe taxes, reward work, build homes, uphold family, stop crime, secure borders, rearm our forces, restore our freedom, and put Canada first.” His message, as Laura observed, aligns closely with that of President-elect Donald Trump, further solidifying the comparison.
Gunn Reid expressed full confidence in Poilievre’s chances of winning. “He’s the complete opposite of Justin Trudeau,” she concluded.
