Sen. Schmitt: It’s Time to End Washington’s Bloated Bureaucracy

Missouri Senator Eric Schmitt joined The Ingraham Angle to discuss the Trump administration’s decision to reduce the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID). The plan will cut staff from over 10,000 to approximately 294. Schmitt called this move a necessary step to control wasteful spending. He emphasized that bloated agencies have operated without oversight for too long.

Uncovering Misuse of Taxpayer Dollars

Schmitt detailed questionable USAID expenditures, including $45 million for climate programs in Brazil and $1.5 billion for DUI prevention in Serbia. He also cited $2 million allocated for sex-change procedures in Guatemala. If taxpayers knew how their money was spent, he argued, they would demand action. “This is Washington’s worst nightmare,” Schmitt said, predicting that these revelations would spark a movement for budget cuts.

He warned that wasteful spending reaches beyond USAID. Schmitt framed the Trump administration’s efforts as long-overdue reforms. “Government programs should serve core national interests,” he asserted.

The Fight Against the Washington Establishment

Schmitt accused Democrats of protecting an unaccountable bureaucracy. He pointed to reports that USAID funds supported nonprofits linked to activist George Soros. He questioned whether foreign aid dollars were returning to the U.S. to influence politics. “People have had enough,” Schmitt stated.

He also criticized Democratic leaders for ignoring fiscal responsibility. “Tell that to the truck driver working overtime. Tell that to the waitress picking up extra shifts,” he said. He stressed that wasteful government spending directly affects hardworking Americans.

Schmitt framed the 2024 election as a battle between disruptors like Trump and the political establishment. He urged Republicans to push for reforms, emphasizing that exposing waste should be a priority. “This is just the beginning,” he said, hinting at deeper investigations into spending.

His appearance on The Ingraham Angle reinforced a key conservative argument: Washington’s bureaucracy is out of control. Schmitt made it clear that Republicans aim to cut waste, restore accountability, and protect taxpayer money.
