Nicole Shanahan: Democrat Ballot Play Is Disingenuous

Pete Hegseth was joined by Nicole Shanahan, former running mate of RFK Jr., on a recent episode of ‘The Ingraham Angle,’ to address the ongoing challenges surrounding their campaign’s withdrawal from the presidential race.

After endorsing Donald Trump, RFK Jr. called on his supporters to back the former president, but his name remains on the ballot in several key states, including Michigan and Wisconsin.

“I also just want to make clear that, we are remaining on the ballot intentionally on many other states. We should be on about 40 state ballots. We are suspended, but we’re not fully withdrawn,” Shanahan explained.

“We are running this race with the kind of integrity we set out to. We did set out to win it. And at this point right now, we’ve formed a coalition government, a coalition partnership with Donald Trump.”

Shanahan added that despite RFK Jr.’s endorsement of Trump, efforts to remove his name from ballots have been obstructed.

Michigan Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson and Wisconsin Election Commission members have cited state laws preventing the withdrawal of candidates who have officially filed. These regulations mean RFK Jr.’s name will stay on the ballot unless removed by legal action or, in Wisconsin’s case, only if the candidate passes away.

“The Democrats didn’t want you in the race. They didn’t want you on the ballot. They didn’t want you to have Secret Service protection. Now you’re out of the race. In swing states, they’ve removed Secret Service protection, but they won’t remove you from the ballot.

Hegseth highlighted that RFK Jr.’s campaign is navigating a number of complex legal landscapes when it comes to the ballot due to an effort by Democrats to keep the independent’s name on ballots in swing states – potentially as a way to confuse voters or impact the election outcome.

“The Democrats didn’t want you in the race. They didn’t want you on the ballot. They didn’t want you to have Secret Service protection,” Hegseth listed. “Now you’re out of the race. In swing states, they’ve removed Secret Service protection, but they won’t remove you from the ballot.”

Shanahan labeled Democrats as ‘disingenuous’ and went on to reiterate their campaign’s commitment to bringing independent viewpoints to the forefront of American politics.

We’re doing what we can to show the American public that third parties can contend, and they are very strong challengers, and that there’s an enormous amount of value in an independent movement that can leverage its position to get many of these issues front and center,” she said.
