In 2028 Preview, Newsom Returns to Failed Themes of 2020

Fox News host Laura Ingraham delivered a sharp takedown of California Governor Gavin Newsom in her latest Ingraham Angle monologue. Framing Newsom’s early positioning for 2028 as a “preview” of recycled Democratic failures, Laura argued that the governor is peddling fear while ignoring his own disastrous record.

“Gavin’s not having the truth,” Laura said. She contrasted Newsom’s rhetoric with President Trump’s tangible accomplishments — including a soaring stock market and historic drops in crime in Washington, D.C., after Trump federalized law enforcement. “Democrats are scrambling because Trump’s scoring big wins,” she added.

Recycling the Same Failed Themes

Laura mocked Democrats for recycling the same slogans that collapsed in 2020 and 2024. “So democracy, it’s under assault. Trump’s never gonna leave office again,” she said, imitating their talking points. Yet, she noted, even loyal audiences are tuning out the stale rhetoric.

At a recent event, Newsom claimed Trump doesn’t want another election and accused him of plotting to stay in power. But Laura quickly dismantled the claim as absurd. “Of course, Gavin is lying. He’s not that dumb,” she said. Trump has already made clear that his legacy will include a ballroom project — a gift to America when he leaves office in 2029.

No Results, Just Hair and Hype

For Laura, the problem isn’t just Newsom’s dishonesty but his lack of accomplishments. “Given the mess that California is in under Democrat leadership, with majorities in both houses, Newsom has a rotten resume to run for the presidency on,” she said. “If credibility came from impeccable hair care, he’d be believable. But since it actually comes from results, he has none.”

She argued that Newsom leans on false narratives because he cannot point to real successes in California. Homelessness, crime, and high taxes continue to drive residents and businesses out of the state, leaving the governor with nothing but theatrics.

Dangerous Lies With Deadly Consequences

Laura warned that Newsom’s fearmongering about Trump poses real dangers. “This lie, endlessly repeated, is dangerous,” she said. She reminded viewers that the Minneapolis shooter fantasized about murdering Trump in his manifesto and that there have already been two recent assassination attempts.

“If deranged people take Gavin at his word, it’s kind of predictable that someone could try to stop Trump’s presidency by any means necessary,” Laura said. “But Newsom doesn’t care, so the lies, they just don’t stop.”

Phony Attacks on Voter ID

Newsom also accused Trump of trying to suppress the vote. Laura dismissed that argument outright. “Wait a second, Trump’s for voter suppression? There was a record turnout last election, a fact that Trump regularly celebrates,” she said.

She reminded viewers that Democrats are the ones pushing to let illegal aliens vote and opposing basic voter ID. “To them, Trump enforcing immigration law and requiring ID is tantamount to voter suppression,” Laura said.

A Governor Playing Influencer

Laura ridiculed Newsom’s attempts to connect with younger voters, pointing to his comments about shirtless photos. “He’s even trying to win over the bro vote,” she joked. “Newsom has all the gravitas of a teenage social media influencer.”

She also called out his jab at Fox hosts Sean Hannity and herself over the Trump administration’s national security investment in Intel. “Weak, weak,” she said, explaining the obvious difference between securing America’s chip supply and the government running grocery stores.

A Serious Job, Not a Joke

As Laura wrapped her monologue, she returned to the central point: California’s governor should be a serious leader, but Newsom is not. “When you really think about it, the governor of California, one of our great states, our largest state, should be a really serious person, and Newsom simply is not that,” she said.

Instead of presenting ideas for solving America’s problems, Laura argued, Newsom offers only buzzwords and fearmongering. “Like the rest of his party, they just yell fascist and dictator when they have no ideas,” she said.

“These are dangerous times,” Laura concluded, “and we can only hope that after the tragic events in Minneapolis, Newsom will decide against continuing to lie about President Trump and the future of American democracy.”
