Duffy: Biden’s ‘Green’ and Social Justice Mandates Delayed Border Safety Projects
Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy says President Trump’s administration is cutting through bureaucratic red tape left by the Biden years to focus on one thing: keeping Americans safe.
In an interview this week, Duffy called out the Biden administration for slowing down critical infrastructure at the U.S.-Canada border with unnecessary mandates tied to climate goals and social justice initiatives.
“This was announced almost three years ago,” Duffy said, referring to a planned advanced border facility. “But there were a lot of requirements around social justice and green in the grant that the last administration gave. We’ve cleared that information out.”
According to Duffy, the Trump administration has now removed those Biden-era conditions and is moving forward with projects that prioritize safety.
“We want more roadway, more pathways for trade—but we need more technology,” he said. “Those trucks that come across the border are the ones moving drugs and human traffickers. Having this advanced facility is critical.”
Duffy also contrasted Trump’s approach to public safety with that of Democrat leaders like New York Gov. Kathy Hochul. “She wants to prioritize the homeless or the mentally ill over the riding public,” he said. “Donald Trump says no—we’re going to actually prioritize safety, whether it’s at the border or on subways.”
He summed up the administration’s focus bluntly: “We don’t care about the green. We don’t care about social justice. We care about projects and the safety of the American people.”
