New Study: Which States Are Ready for an Alien Invasion?

A new report from Giga Calculator ranks U.S. states by their readiness to face an alien invasion. Topping the list is Virginia, followed by Alabama, Massachusetts, New York, and Minnesota. The rankings sparked lively commentary on The Ingraham Angle, where host Laura Ingraham invited UFO expert and aerospace engineer Mike Bara to weigh in.
Laura questioned the inclusion of states like Massachusetts and New York. She pointed out their ongoing public safety issues and asked how they could lead in preparing for extraterrestrial threats. Bara said Virginia earned its top spot due to its strategic defense infrastructure. The state borders Washington, D.C., houses numerous military installations, and is home to agencies like the CIA and Pentagon.
Bara explained that proximity to national defense centers likely gives Virginia access to technologies the public doesn’t know about. These could include experimental radar systems or advanced weapons like particle beams or laser-based deterrents. Past encounters with UFOs have shown that certain radar types can interfere with their behavior, suggesting that defense tech may already play a role.
A Mix of Humor and Concern
Bara joked that Massachusetts and New York might be seen by aliens as welcoming, given their sanctuary policies. This, he said, might spare them in a potential encounter. As a Nevada resident, Bara noted with concern that his own state ranked last in preparedness. He referenced a 2023 Las Vegas incident in which a local resident claimed to see a 10-foot-tall alien in their backyard. Officers who responded reportedly captured body cam footage, which has never been released.
While the segment carried a humorous tone, Bara argued that the issue deserves real attention. He pointed to declassified documents and growing mainstream coverage of UFO activity. According to him, agencies like the CIA have likely been preparing for alien scenarios in private. He suggested that the time has come for public hearings and a clearer national framework on the matter.
The conversation ended with responses from state leaders. Virginia Governor Glenn Youngkin joked that “illegal aliens of any kind will not be welcome in Virginia” under his leadership. Meanwhile, Nevada Governor Joe Lombardo leaned into his state’s reputation for alien lore. He noted that Nevada offers 60 million acres of open space—ideal for avoiding unexpected UFO encounters.
Though sparked by an unusual study, the segment reflected a rising public curiosity about extraterrestrial life. It also raised a serious question: if contact ever happens, are we truly prepared?
