Tom Homan Refers AOC to DOJ Over Alleged Obstruction of Immigration Enforcement
Former acting ICE Director Tom Homan has referred Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez to the Department of Justice, questioning whether her actions in a recent webinar aiding illegal immigrants constitute obstruction of justice. He revealed that he contacted every deputy attorney general to seek guidance on whether AOC had crossed a legal line by advising illegal immigrants on how to evade deportation.
Homan Calls for DOJ Action Against AOC
Homan did not mince words, stating that Ocasio-Cortez’s actions could impede law enforcement efforts. “Maybe AOC is going to be in trouble now,” he said. Her role in allegedly helping illegal immigrants game the system should be scrutinized by federal authorities. He emphasized that DOJ must determine whether her webinar advising illegal immigrants is grounds for legal action.
“If we have to take every federal dollar out of the city, good lord, we’re done,” Homan said. “This is about public safety and community safety. Knowingly releasing a public safety threat is reckless. It puts the public, our officers, and even illegal aliens at great risk.”
ICE Returns to Rikers Island Amid Sanctuary City Fight
While Homan’s remarks on AOC took center stage, he also discussed a major policy shift in New York City: the reopening of ICE’s office at Rikers Island. He met with Mayor Eric Adams to secure the return of ICE enforcement at the jail. The move targets criminal illegal aliens.
“This is a great first step,” Homan said. “Getting ICE officers back in Rikers is meaningful because now we can deal with the worst of the worst—firearms violators, murderers, kidnappers, rapists. But I made it clear: I want everybody. If you’re illegal and you get into Rikers, I don’t care if it’s for shoplifting—I want them.”
Homan acknowledged the uphill battle against New York City’s sanctuary policies. He vowed to continue pushing for stricter enforcement measures. “Let’s surprise them with what we’re coming to the table with and let them sue me. Bring it,” he challenged. He made it clear he was not backing down.
Legal Fight Against Sanctuary Cities Heats Up
Beyond New York, Homan warned sanctuary cities nationwide that the federal government is taking action. He praised Attorney General Pam Bondi for her aggressive stance on the issue. He pledged that legal action would target cities that refuse to comply with immigration laws.
“Gloves are off. Game over. We’re coming,” Homan said. Federal funding will be at risk in sanctuary cities that obstruct enforcement efforts. “If I have to double manpower in Boston or New York City, that’s what we’ll do.”
With ICE ramping up enforcement and legal challenges mounting against sanctuary policies, Homan made it clear that those impeding immigration enforcement will face consequences. “If they won’t step aside, we’re coming. If they refuse to make their communities safer, President Trump will.”
With his referral of AOC to the DOJ, Homan has drawn a clear line in the sand. Efforts to undermine immigration enforcement will not go unchecked.
