Josh Hawley: ‘Democrats Want to Confiscate Guns’

“Democrats are singularly focused on control,” said Sen. Josh Hawley (R-MO) on “The Ingraham Angle” on Tuesday.

Responding to President Biden’s proposal to ban assault weapons and implement tighter background checks, Hawley said that Democrats “want to have control over the political process.

“They don’t care about the Second Amendment. They don’t care about the First Amendment. And if you disagree with them, they want to write you right out of the democratic process. And you look at what their gun control, all of their proposals come down to, we’re basically heading towards a national gun registry. I mean, that’s the only way to make effective the kind of so-called reforms that they want. It’s to register every firearm in America. And you talk about an infringement on Second Amendment rights and what that will lead to. And we know they also want to confiscate guns. All the Democrat presidential candidates ran on that just last year. So that’s what’s really going on here. It’s a massive, massive power grab and it’s downright unconstitutional.”

“Whether it’s your right to worship, your right to bear arms, [Democrats] want to limit them to take them away, all in service of their political control and their radical left wing agenda,” continued Hawley. “What we’re seeing is they are willing to steamroll anything that stands in their way. The rules of the Senate, the will of the voters doesn’t matter. They are going to implement their radical agenda and nothing is going to stop them.”
