Byron Donalds: Democrats Are Losing Young Voters—and the Culture War
In a segment on The Ingraham Angle, Florida Congressman and gubernatorial candidate Byron Donalds joined Laura Ingraham to react to the Democratic Party’s latest Gen Z outreach effort. The event, billed as a summit to reenergize younger voters, instead revealed what Donalds called the Left’s growing disconnect from reality, culture, and working Americans.
“This was just sad,” Donalds said after watching clips from the event. “A lot of rambling, no substance.”
“We Have Policy That Works—They Have Nothing but Optics”
Donalds didn’t hold back when comparing the GOP’s appeal to young people with what Democrats are offering. “If they’re looking for the largest Gen Z voter registration group, I think that belongs to Charlie Kirk and Turning Point USA,” he said. He pointed to a major contrast: “The reason why young people are moving towards a conservative movement is because, number one, we actually have policy that works, and we’re not lying to you about it.”
While Democrats hosted panels full of empty slogans and nostalgic figureheads, Donalds noted that even their cultural grip is slipping. “They’re losing the late-night war,” he said, referencing Stephen Colbert’s recent cancellation. “They don’t have the culture to put these people out to make them seem like they’re cool—in reality, they’re not. And their policies are failing.”
“Throwing Yarn in the Back”—Why Young Men Are Walking Away
When Laura highlighted one breakout session that invited participants to “throw balls of yarn and bond,” Donalds didn’t hold back. “If you want to know why the Democrats are losing young men, that’s why,” he said. “There ain’t a young man in America today that wants to be throwing yarn in the back.”
He continued, “That’s the dumbest thing I’ve ever seen, Laura. But why should we be shocked? This is the same party that lied to us and said that Joe Biden was capable of doing his job. And we all know he was not.”
Donalds pointed out the deep irony of the summit requiring photo ID for entry while many Democrats oppose voter ID laws. “You need to show an ID to get into their summit, but in California, you don’t need to show an ID to vote,” he said. “It’s this type of idiocy which is why the Democrats are losing Americans more and more.”
“Let Them Keep Holding Summits—We’ll Win the House and Senate”
As the conversation turned to broader implications for 2024, Donalds remained confident that the GOP’s momentum will only build. “If they actually believed in common sense, I truly believe they would stand a chance for the future,” he said. “But if they continue to go down this foolishness… just look at their approval ratings—the lowest they’ve ever been in the modern era.”
Donalds concluded with a direct message: “Let them continue these summits. We’ll go ahead and win the House and Senate majorities in the midterms, and we will continue to work with President Trump to make America not just great again, but better than it’s ever been.”
