John Kerry Listener Reaction
At a campaign event in California, John Kerry said that "In our education, if you make the most of it and you study hard and you do your homework and you make an effort to be smart you can do well; if you don’t, you get stuck in Iraq." Our listeners, many with military experience under their belts, responded. Watch the video of John Kerry.

Laura,
Kerry has demonstrated, once again, that he came by those "Ds" honestly. Enjoy your show.

Never have I been so insulted and angered by a raving idiot, as I have been with the remark by Senator Kerry. Please let me understand that my son, who joined the National Guard after 9/11 and then went active to protect our Nation, and then was killed in action, only did this because he was stupid? How dare he dishonor my son or any soldier with his disgusting remarks. I can only say that Thankfully he is not a Senator representing the State of Wisconsin, I think he is the one in the state of denial.

Not only are the men and women in our armed services not stupid, they are smart enough to understand that the country depends on citizens who will serve their country; smart enough to understand that civilians control the military; smart enough to understand that they serve when and where ordered regardless of whether they believe their assignments are stupid or given by stupid people. Is John Kerry smart enough or courageous enough to serve today?

My husband graduated from the Air Force Academy and has served in the AF for 20 years. He and I were very offended by JK's comments! We believe he meant exactly what he said, ...that if you are in the military you are stupid! He looks down his nose in his Elitist way at all Military! Thank God he is not our President! Thank God he isn't a Military man anymore... because anyone that shoots himself in the foot as often as he does should not be issued a weapon!! Be it a real firearm or a high office in this country! Glad I don't live in Mass!! He's not fit to shine the shoes of our Military or this Administration!

I think I know why John Kerry shut down his schedule. The entire Democrat party is putting a gag order when it concerns him. They can't take the chance on him opening his mouth again, at least till the election is over.

I have 3 brothers and we are all Marines. Between the 4 of us, we have 3 undergraduate degrees, 1 Master's , 1 Law. I am a Certified Public Accountant, my brother with the Law Degree was the Assistant County Prosecutor in Conroe County, TX, although, he is now on the Dark Side, Defense, and is the President of his local Bar Association.
We can't believe what Kerry said about the military. Good thing we are unable to vote for him. But, if we could, we could vote him out.

Hi Laura!
John Kerry reminds me of my ex-husband....when he opens his mouth and puts his foot in it, instead of doing the right thing and fixing the problem, he turns it on to someone else. Poor Mrs. Kerry....I mean Mrs Heinz:-)
Funny how the democrats use "projection." This is a defense mechanism of turning on to others, what is really felt by the self. What are the democrats really feeling and what do they think about themselves?

I'm a U.S. Army retiree who served three tours of duty in Viet Nam. Who cares is Kerry apoligizes. You can't believe a word the man says.

Dear Laura,
If Kerry's joke was botched, why has not someone asked him tell it exactly as it was intended? I can't imagine how he or anyone else could turn what he said into a joke against our president. Come on Kerry -- let's hear the unbotched version. The families of our fallen and wounded heroes are waiting.

Isn't it interesting that when John Kerry shows us his true feelings it is called a blunder by the media but with Mel Gibson it is called insight into his true feelings?

My husband (US Army, SFC, Retired) and I are completely offended and disgusted with Senator Kerry's remarks. It is pure and simple an insult. What is not being looked at closely is that Senator Kerry has stereotyped the military as only full of bad, stupid and impoverished people and the bigger implication that Senator Kerry does not see a redeaming value at all of any person in the US Armed Forces. One who stereotypes a group does not have complete knowledge of that group, views it as inferior and feels no guilt at impuning the members of the group. What he did was truly expose his disdain of the military. I am so relieved that this man is not the President.

I recently was playing a round of golf with one of the senior Command Sergeant?s Majors here at Fort Bliss. I asked him about the education level of the incoming class that just reported for the academy. He told me that 30% of them had Master's Degrees. Imagine that! The truth is most of them got these degrees while they served their country. I think the thing that John Kerry does not understand is the concept of "serving their country".

Kerry's still hasn't figured it out. In Vietnam he "Swiftboated" himself. In his 1971 "testimony" accusing fellow soldiers of war atrocities, he did it again. When he snuck over to Paris to meet with North Vietnamese...he did it once more. He did it when he called the Swift Boat veterans and POWS for Truth liars in 2004. Now he has done it again. His lifelong contempt for the US Military has been well documented. John O'Neil and the officers from his own unit and his entire chain of command have documented it. He never has responded to specific questions regarding the Swift Boat ads...choosing instead to hire private detectives and the liberal media in an attempt to smear good men. He is nothing but a prevaricating politician and wind-bag who never disclosed the truth about his record in Vietnam to his own family. I'm only sorry he discredited himself from running for President again.

My brother did two tours in Vietnam in the Navy and then went on to graduate from College in a short amount of time while never missing the Dean's list. Has now worked for the State Health Department for many years and is now, a bio-terrorism expert. And by the way, has also retired from the National Guard. His son was a Marine and now has his Masters Degree in Legal Administration and fights for the rights of Disabled Veterans. This country is very blessed to have such people defending and looking out for them... How dare John Kerry use a Military reference to make a joke!

Quote of the Day
Everyone understands that we're less than 100 days from an election. It's during this time that the noise and the chatter about who's up in the polls and which party is ahead threatens to drown out just about everything else.
