VIDEO: North Carolina Democrat who said young people should get involved assaults students who ask about ObamaCare Posted by Staff
NC-2 is rated a safe Democratic seat by CQ Politics, but Rep. Bob Etheridge's Republican opponent is credible. Renee Ellmers is the young mother who won the May 4th primary with 55% of the vote.
She's a former Surgical Intensive Care Nurse and currently the Clinical Director of the Trinity Wound Care Center. She opposes ObamaCare. You can support her here.
Irony alert: In 2007, Etheridge told GenerationEngage (now apparently Mobilize.org) that young people should get involved (1:50 mark):
Etheridge: "I would say to young people, get involved with a specific opportunity, something that's really happening in your community, that you care about. It may be children, it may be a park, it may be a health department, you know, a lot of things..."
They took his advice and he showed his appreciation.
Mobilize.org's mission is to promote a "theory of change [that] starts with the individual citizen identifying problems at the local, state and national levels. Once problems are identified, citizens must engage in conversations searching for innovative solutions to the problems they have identified."
Also, an Etheridge TV ad from 2008: Nothing is more important than protecting our children. Maybe that's why voters should oust him in November?:
